What Are
Endangered Animals?
Endangered
animals are a population of
organisms which are at risk of
becoming extinct. This could be due
to dwindling/few numbers or because
they are threatened by environment
and habitat changes or endangered by
predators. There are many endangered
animals on our planet and we have
articles on numerous
animals that
are endangered
throughout our site. The list of
endangered animals
includes types of tigers, wolves,
bears (polar and grizzly), cheetahs,
gorillas, leopards, sharks,
dolphins, fish (and other Ocean
endangered animals), monkeys,
penguins, turtles, pandas, snakes,
lions, whales, frogs, birds and many
others! These animals can be found
in the wild, rainforest, sea, ocean
and from continents all over the
world, such as Africa, Asia,
Antarctica, Australia, Oceania,
Europe, South and North America.

Why Should We Save Endangered
Animals?
There are
many reasons why we should save
endangered animals and species.
Biological diversity, to
maintain natural habitats and
ecosystems, to prevent the loss
of a beautiful creature and
finally, to prevent any kind of
chain reaction which could
affect many other species we may
not yet know about. Wouldnt it
have been nice to see and enjoy
the
animals that are extinct,
such as the saber toothed tiger
(Smilodon), woolly
mammoth (Mammuthus
primigenius) or even the
Eastern Cougar that became
extinct in 2011? With more
controlled effort we could help
prevent the extinction of
threatened and endangered
animals so that generations to
come can witness them living.
Everyone can now play their part
in saving endangered animals
through an adoption scheme. The
WWF and many other wildlife
federations offer people the
option of adopting many
different types of endangered
animals, such a polar bear,
panda, tiger or elephant. Adopt
an endangered animal or buy it
for someone as a gift!
